Exegesis of selected texts will be supplemented by treatment of certain important themes as well as discussions on certain difficulties in interpretation (cruces interpretum). The second part of this course studies the theological message of the Gospel of Matthew that was communicated to the Jewish Christian readers and examines its relevance and application for us today. Matthew’s audience, his sources and his methodology will be investigated.
