This unit seeks to broaden the understanding of the human psyche from the perspective of Carl Jung, enabling students to appreciate its contribution to growth in the spiritual life. Topics dealt with include: Freudian organisation and dynamics of personality (id, ego and superego); Jungian structure of human psyche, namely the personal and collective unconscious; archetypes and complexes; human duality of persona and shadow, and anima and animus; Individuation and spiritual growth; and depth psychology.
