An entryway to biblical study, this course will familiarise newcomers to scriptural studies with the literary critical methods of exegesis. It will begin with the introduction to the Old Testament world and the formation of the Old Testament Books. The second part will focus on the New Testament, giving a general overview of the New Testament and an introduction to the Synoptic Gospels. It moves on to discover the ‘Jesus of History’ and his ipsissima verba, drawing on the results of form-critical research in recent years.
